Dr. James Lyke and Julie Lovison, Director of The Lake Shore Music Studio, Chicago, examine the phrasing of one of the compositions featured in his newest publication Say It With Music which was introduced at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy August 1, 2009 in Lombard, Illinois where Dr. Lyke was honored with a lifetime achievement award.
Dr. James Lyke is a retired pedagogy professor from University of Illinois and Georgia State University. He currently resides in Manhattan where he composes and arranges music for piano instruction. Say It With Music and Swing Band Dance Hits include Dr. Lyke's newest arrangements of songs written by several notable jazz and swing band era composers ideally suited for beginning and intermediate level pianists. These books as well as his popular Oldies But Goodies (Lyke / Haydon) and others are published by Lee Roberts Music Publications, distributed through Hal Leonard Music. Julie Lovison is a Millikin University Music Education graduate (1975) and an International Piano Teaching Foundation consultant offering group piano and comprehensive musicianship training. Julie is active in the Illinois State Music Teachers Association and is former president (2008) of the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association. |
